Where is management heading ??

I bumped into this article on business week (http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/08_36/b4098032904806.htm) and couldn't help thinking what the future of management will be. IBM is developing mathematical models of their employees and consultants and come up with numbers that will place them in certain categories based on their skills, work experience, living patterns, culture, yada yada ya. This number will be used to place them on projects most suited to them. A manager would no longer have to scractch his head on who would be assigned to a project. It would be as simple as going to a online travel site..Make your selections and it will show you the people most suited to the role..Nothing wrong with this approach..

I am questioning in my mind..is this is the right thing..
People will be tagged as workers..would such people ever get to grow..or they will continue to do what they have been doing all these years..Treating individuals as numbers would totally wipe of the human touch that one still sees in an organization...

Thoughts ?
